Experience
Craig is an Associate Professor of Practice with the Faculty of Business and Law at Queensland University of Technology, lecturing on the post-graduate Practical Legal Training course. He presently leads the Criminal Law and Employment & Industrial law subjects, and deliver training for the Interactions, Lawyer Skills, and Work Skills subjects. Craig is actively involved in developing and delivering training to government and corporate groups in court process and advocacy, with a focus on both government policy and expert evidence, as well as training in-house lawyers throughout Australia in legal team development, corporate governance, and dispute resolution. Prior to his current position at QUT, Craig practised as a barrister with his primary areas of activity including criminal, family, employment, veterans’ affairs, and commercial law. As an accredited Duty Lawyer, he appeared weekly at the Cleveland, Wynnum, Sandgate, and Bundaberg Magistrates Courts, in addition to being briefed in District and Supreme Courts matters. Craig was also briefed by the Separate Representative in the demanding area of child protection. Prior to joining the legal profession, he was the Project Director for a major consulting organisation, with responsibility for projects in Australia, South Africa, and the US. In addition to managing large scale systems integration projects, Craig trained and mentored project managers on project methodology, change management, risk management, quality management, and process design. Craig has previously engaged with the QUT Business School to deliver the Executive MBA program to the Department of Defence in both Brisbane and Canberra, redeveloping the Negotiation and Corporate Governance modules of the program, and then travelling and delivering these modules to senior defence personnel in Canberra.
