Biography
For a decade, Keith was a teacher in Victorian State Schools. He received an Outstanding Teacher assessment awarded to the top 3% of the State’s Teachers. Keith then embarked on an academic career as a Lecturer in the areas of History of Education and Australian History in the School of Education at the University of Ballarat. In 1999, he commenced Lecturing in Australian and European History in the School of Humanities at QUT. He later became a Senior Lecturer. From the beginning of 2005 until July 2006, Keith coordinated the Australian Studies Professional Major within the Bachelor of Arts; he then became the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts and in addition, at the beginning of 2009, he also coordinated the Bachelor of Social Science. In 2005, Keith received the QUT Carseldine Staff Achievement Award for the highest research output for the year within his Faculty and in 2008 he received a Vice Chancellor’s Performance Award ‘in recognition of a significant and superior contribution to the work of the University’. In 2010 Keith took up a Senior Lecturer position, teaching Australian and European History, in the Faculty of Education at QUT. Keith is currently the History Discipline Coordinator and Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma Senior Years Program.Personal details

Experience
As Keith’s publications and his post-graduate supervision indicate, his interests lie in the History of Education in Australia and in Australian History. He also has an interest in British and European History. Much of his research is located in two quite separate decades: the 1850s and the 1960s.
