Tiziana has worked for more than a decade at Vogue Italia, and in the advertising and music industry in Milan, covering many aspects of the creative industries from a professional viewpoint. Her scholarly knowledge and professional expertise is translated in her teaching across many aspects of fashion communication.

She is an Australian Research Council Assessor, a regular peer reviewer for many refereed journals, and an editorial member of two Intellect publications, Clothing Cultures and Studies in Costume and Performance, and of ZoneModa Journal.

Biography

Background Tiziana has worked in Milan across many fields of the creative industries, from advertising, production manager at Vogue Italy in Milan and as a freelance writer. She holds  a PhD from Griffith University on the New Italian Cinema, completed at Griffith University. Tiziana has taught for several years in Film and Cultural studies, before returning to fashion studies.  She has published in several journals on a range of topics that include memory and history in cultural representations, as well as fashion and national identity, Australian wool history,  activewear, fashion spaces, and fashion theory. From her visits to communities of women workers in the textile and clothing industry in India in the middle of the 1980s, she has developed an interest in globalisation and sustainability. Her current research  include wool, Australian fashion, fashion and digital media, fashion and film. Tiziana’s methodological approach is underpinned by interdisciplinarity and the culture and industry nexus.

Tiziana is the Study Area Coordinator (Fashion).

Teaching

Tiziana teaches fashion history and theory, and fashion and style journalism. She has also taught fashion, costume and film, critical fashion studies and introduction to fashion.

Drawing from her professional experience in an international fashion magazine, Tiziana teaches a unit “Fashion & Style Journalism”, which exposes students to real world experiences in fashion journalism, from feature writing, to editing, to styling for photoshoot. The outcome of the unit is a real fashion magazine and a website.
