Biography
Scott is a Lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology Law School, is the Unit Coordinator of Civil Procedure and tutors in Torts.Scott was awarded his PhD in November 2019 and a Master of Laws specialising in intellectual property law in 2007, both from The University of Queensland. Scott’s PhD thesis is titled ‘Civil Liability Challenges for Neural Interface Devices: Reconceptualising the Law’. Scott is a researcher with the Humans Technology Law Centre at QUT Law School focussing on regulating life sciences, robotics, neural interface and the law. These areas of research enable the continuation of the research undertaken in his PhD.
After practising law in litigation at Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst), McInnes Wilson and Home Wilkinson Lowry (now HWL Ebsworth) he became the Project Manager of the Open Access to Knowledge (OAK) Law Project and the Legal Framework for e-Research Project, both led by Professor Brian Fitzgerald at QUT and funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government. Scott is looking for higher degree research candidates considering the legal dimensions from the development and adoption of neural interface.
