Biography
Dr. Radha Iyer is a senior lecturer in the School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education. Her research interests concern social justice and equity about discourse, language issues, and concerning culturally ad linguistically diverse students in higher education. Further, she researches the language of current policies relating to teachers' work. She is exploring how higher education students who are culturally and linguistically diverse engage in academic literacy and practice. Radha has been a reviewer for Q1 journals and a regular reviewer for European Education Research Conference for the language and linguistic Special Interest Group. She has been an Associate Editor for the journal International Education Journal: Comparative Issues since 2015 and continues in that role currently.Radha has set up and teaches the methodology unit for the Masters of Education and also teaches sociology to Masters of Teaching students. She has taught pre-service teachers in the literacy and Indigenous Units since 2005. Her theories derive from Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, Mikhail Bakhtin, Deleuze, and Guattari. These theories have been variously applied to a range of research issues. Radha has successfully supervised over 17 Ph.D. and M.Ed ( Research) students. Radha has published in Q1 journals on discourse, critical literacy, critical discourse analysis, and service-learning. Please see the publications in QUT eprints.
