Dr. Ruchith Dissanayake is a Senior Lecturer in Finance in the School of Economics and Finance at the QUT Business School. Ruchith has a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alberta, for which he won multiple awards including the AIMCo Scholarship in Finance and GRA Rice Graduate Scholarship in Business. Ruchith was a research scholar in Economics at the University of California, San Diego.
Ruchith’s research is focused in three main streams of research, specifically: 1) theoretical and empirical asset pricing; 2) empirical corporate finance; and 3) international finance. Ruchith has written research papers in asset pricing examining the impact of government spending on asset prices, examining how geographic distribution of firms impacts firm risk and asset returns, examining the impact of investment specific technological shocks on asset prices in international markets, and research papers in corporate finance examining the impact of government spending on corporate innovation, examining the impact of geopolitical uncertainty on firm investment decisions, and examining how government debt impacts mergers and acquisition decisions. His research papers have featured in some of the leading academic conferences in the world including the American Finance Association Conference, American Economic Association Conference, Northern Finance Association Conference, and China International Conference in Finance.
