Dr Phoebe Macrossan has a Bachelor of Journalism/Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) from the University of New South Wales. Her doctoral thesis examined the Utopian modalities of contemporary American song-based screen media, including film musicals, musical television, music video and visual albums.
She is a member of the Screen Studies Association of Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand (SSAAANZ) and a co-founder of the Sydney Screen Studies Network (SSSN). Her research interests are musical film and television, popular music performance, and celebrity studies. She has published on the Beatles’ jukebox musical Across the Universe, on musical television series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and on Beyoncé.
Dr Phoebe Macrossan teaches across film, media, and screen studies.
