Dr Patrick Johnston is a Cognitive Neuroscientist with an interest in brain mechanisms involved in high-level vision and aspects of social perception in healthy and clinical populations. He uses brain imaging techniques such as structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetoencephalography and electroencephalography as well as eye-tracking and behavioral  techniques to address fundamental questions about mechanisms of visual perception.

He joined QUT in late 2014 having worked previously as a Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, University of York, UK, and prior to that as as NHMRC Research Fellow at the Brain Sciences Institute at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, a Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle, NSW, and a Research Assistant at the Brain Modelling and Monitoring Lab, UCLA. He was awarded his PhD through Northumbria University, UK, in 2005.
