Biography
Prof Nikhil Thapar is a Clinical/Health Services Research Senior Research Fellow position at QUT within the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research and is a member of the Strategic Leadership Group. In July 2019, Professor Nikhil Thapar commenced as Director of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplant Unit at Queensland Children’s Hospital. This service is one of the longest established statewide specialist services in Australia providing tertiary and quarternary gastroenterology, nutrition, hepatology and liver transplant services to Queensland and north New South Wales. In addition the service is being developed to provide national quarternary services for neurogastroenterology and motility. Professor Nikhil Thapar's main remit is to drive sustainable clinical excellence within, and build academic / research capability of, the service, with the aim of establishing a world leading centre for the sub-specialty with an active programme of cutting edge and collaborative research and innovation. His research will be looking to establish a regenerative medicine and gut-related neural system research programme.Personal details
