Research Interests

Dr Khan’s research interests include Multiphase Porous Media Modelling, Food Drying, Characterisation of Soft Materials, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning, Phase Change Material (PCM), and Multiphase Transport Phenomena.

Background

Dr Khan is a well presented, highly self-motivated researcher with experience in both industrial and academic settings.  Dr Khan received his PhD from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with a highly competitive HDR student full tuition fee and QUTPRA Scholarship. He also received his Bachelor (First Class First in merit position) and Masters (by research) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh and was awarded the University Gold Medal as an extraordinary student during his four years of undergraduate studies in Engineering. Besides his position at QUT, he commenced academic employment as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DUET, Bangladesh on October 2008.  He was promoted to Assistant Professor in August 2011, and Associate Professor in April 2019. Dr Khan has accomplished a consistent success as a teacher, researcher and as an administrator. Most of his career positions have allowed strong participation in both pure and applied research, leading and managing large research projects in Mechanical Engineering. Dr Khan has taught the major courses of Mechanical Engineering with an outstanding track record in assuring student success. He is an effective communicator with excellent planning, organisational and negotiation strengths as well as the ability to lead, reach consensus, establish goals, and attain results.

Research Grants

Dr Khan has been successful in receiving a national/international competitive grant, amounting to A$ 530,000 (equivalent to 32 million BDTk), funded by World bank (project No. HEQEP-CP 2228), and $A23,925 Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering Neutron, 2019.
