Professional memberships and associations

Gillian is the Reviews Editor for the journal Internaltional Research of Geographical and Environmental Education (IRGEE). Gillian has extensive qualifications. A BSc in ecology initially saw Gillian working for CSIRO and Greening Australia. A GradDipTeach (Secondary Science and Mathematics) resulted in almost 10 years classroom teaching in primary and secondary schools in Queensland. A MEnvEd investigated the occurrence of environmental issues in the media, and provided a pathway into tertiary teaching. An EdD blended psychology and a child`s visual perception of space, and resulted in a move from classroom to tertiary teaching. A GradCertEd(HEd) honed tertiary teaching skills which Gillian used to gain SEDA (UK) certification.
Gillian is a current member of ASERA, ESERA, BERA and AARE . She has working relationships with academic communities in five UK universities and with 2 medical research communities in USA . She works closely with QIMR staff on their educational outreach programs with Indigenous Students from isolated areas in Queensland.
