- Professor Guy G. Gable was in 2019 was awarded the Association for Information Systems (AIS) Sandra Slaughter Service Award. Established in 2014 and granted for the first time in 2015, this award recognizes longstanding members who have provided leadership and service within the association. Renamed in 2015, the award honors Sandra Slaughter, who served as Region 1 Representative on the AIS Council until her untimely death in 2014. Nominees for the Award should have made significant contributions to the association through activities such as (but not limited to): past Council positions; association committees; journal editorial boards; conference involvement; SIGs, chapters, or colleges.

- Professor Guy G. Gable was invited to give the first annual Sydney Universities Doctoral Consortium Keynote Speech 6 November 2018. A collaboration between University of Sydney, University Technology Sydney, and University of New South Wales, this inaugural event was motivated by: (i) the historical success of the QUT School of Information Systems Doctoral Consortium, initiated and chaired annually by Gable since 2008; (ii) the positive involvement in the QUT event as external-Scholars, of many IS academics across Australia including from all three collaborating Sydney universities; and (iii) belief in the value of growing the Doctoral Consortium ecosystem advocated by (Gable et al, 2016).

- Professor Guy G. Gable was appointed Doctoral Consortium co-Chair for International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Seoul, Korea 6-8 Dec 2017.ICIS, the largest (2000 delegates 2016 from most developed and many developing countries) and most prestigious mainstream IS conference, has run annually since 1980. Attracting strong submissions, with a paper acceptance rate typically below 20%, it is the main annual meeting place for the most senior and notable IS researchers.ICIS has offered a Doctoral Consortium (DC) since its inception. Consistent with the status of ICIS, the accompanying DC also sets a very high standard. Selection for acceptance is competitive, each university limited to no more than one nomination and only about 40 students selected from, typically, well over 100 nominations from around the world.A fervent proponent of IS doctoral consortia, in 2015 Gable led the Communications of the AIS report 'The Role of the Doctoral Consortium', which represents DC as

- Delivered Doctoral Consortium Keynote, Australasian Conference on Information Systems, (ACIS), 'Reflections on being Reflective,' Wollongong, 2-4 Dec 2016 (ERA - A).The Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) first ran in 1990 as a national event, expanding to New Zealand in 1994 changing name from 'Australian' to 'Australasian' Conference on Information Systems. Its size has stabilized at around 300 submissions, 40% acceptance, and 250 delegates. A Consortium was first introduced at ACIS in 1993, the 4th running of that conference, and has been offered annually since.
