Research interests
- Psychological factors associated with chronic disease
- Metacognition/metacognitive therapy and meta-emotions/meta-emotions in psychotherapy
- Psychological factors (e.g. meta-emotions, trauma) associated with disordered eating behaviour
- Novel psychotherapies for disordered eating behaviours
Teaching
Esben teaches in the Master of Clinical Psychology Course and teaches

- PYN039 i.e. Health Psychology
He is also the Director of Clinical Psychological Services in the QUT Psychology and Counselling Clinic.
Experience
Esben worked for nearly 10 years as a clinical health psychologist at Ipswich Hospital as well as having worked as a clinical psychologist for the adult mental health service with QHealth. In addition he has also worked as a clinical psychologist for Queensland Disability Support Services working with intellectually impaired adults at Basil Stafford Centre and Challinor Centre.
