Biography
Dr Charmaine Glavas is a Senior Lecturer at the QUT Business School. She has completed a Bachelor of Business (International Business) with Distinction, and a Bachelor of Business (Honours), First Class Honours from the QUT Business School. She holds a PhD (International Business) and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Higher Education). She is also a Fellow in the Higher Education Academy. Previously, Dr Glavas worked as a Lecturer of International Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast and was appointed as the Discipline Leader for International Business. Dr Glavas is an active researcher in international business strategy. Her research focuses on advancing business growth, particularly for individuals and firms operating in high-technology environments which transcend domestic boarders. In addition, her research interests lie in examining technology adoption among individuals and firms. Her research is trans-disciplinary, integrating concepts from the domains of international business, entrepreneurship, international marketing and cultural intelligence. She is an Accredited Advanced Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Assessor (Cultural Intelligence Center, USA), and has an interest in examining communication, cultural sensitivity and awareness of individuals and organisations operating across international contexts. Dr Glavas has published her work in top-tier international journals, including: International Marketing Review, International Business Review, Educational Research Review, Journal of International Entrepreneurship, The Services Industries Journal, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, International Journal of Tourism Research and Journal of International Business Education. She is also an Editorial Advisory Board Member for the Review of International Business and Strategy. Dr Glavas is a mixed-methodologist, with particular expertise in the design and implementation of qualitative research methods such as, multiple case study inquiry and co-design interviews.
