Biography
Associate Professor Amisha Mehta specialises in risk and crisis management and organisational change at the QUT Business School. Her research supports organisational and individual decision-making in the context of risk and uncertainty. She has worked on a number of industry projects that investigate risk perception and the management of drones, and risk and crisis decision-making practices of communities and business owners. Amisha’s advice to industry is evidence-based and draws on interdisciplinary research principles. Amisha shares research findings with industry professionals via tailored workshops, publishes in academic journals and in learning activities with students. Amisha is a member of the Advisory Panel convened by the Office of the Inspector General Emergency Management. Amisha has received a number of awards for her teaching and research work including a CRC Outstanding Achievement in Research Collaboration Award, a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, and an Australian Learning and Teaching Citation. Prior to joining QUT, Amisha worked in communication for organisations in Brisbane and London.
Teaching
Amisha teaches into crisis and disaster management units or classes in the QUT Business School, the Graduate School of Business, Science and Engineering Faculty and Faculty of Health. In her previous role as subject area coordinator, Amisha managed the public relations curriculum at QUT, leading to industry accreditation of the online Masters of Business (Public Relations) and the reaccreditation of the internal masters and bachelor programs. Amisha’s roles as a teacher and administrator resulted in a joint Citation from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council.
Experience
As a QUT researcher and educator, Amisha engages with multiple industry partners including Sunsuper, the Office of the Inspector General Emergency Management, IAG, and fire and emergency management organisations around Australia. Prior to joining QUT, Amisha worked in public relations and communication in businesses in Brisbane and London.
