Biography
As an accomplished critical care paramedic and dedicated educator, I have honed my skills over the years while continually expanding my research capabilities. My journey with the Queensland Ambulance Service began in 2002, and I have since served in various capacities across both urban and rural/remote regions of Queensland. I am currently the Executive Manager of Clinical Quality.Within the Queensland Ambulance Service Education Centre, I have played a pivotal role in developing vocational paramedic education programs, facilitating both online and face-to-face continuing professional development opportunities for paramedics statewide. Additionally, I have been instrumental in shaping the critical care paramedic intern program, contributing to the growth and enhancement of paramedic training initiatives.
During the period from 2012 to 2014, I established an undergraduate paramedic program at the University of Queensland School of Medicine. This endeavour was recognised with an early-mid career teaching excellence award in 2014, underscoring my commitment to educational innovation and excellence.
In 2015, I commenced at QUT and became the coordinator for Evidence-based Clinical Practice. I led the transition of this unit from on-campus to a blend of online and in-person learning, incorporating case-based workshops. The transition was recognised by QUT with an innovation flag.
In 2021, I embarked on a PhD journey, focusing on the epidemiology and triage of severe trauma in Queensland. This interdisciplinary endeavour, conducted in collaboration with QUT, the Jamieson Trauma Institute, and the Queensland Ambulance Service, aims to shed light on critical aspects of trauma care delivery. I am grateful for the support of the KJ McPherson Education and Research Foundation, whose three-year PhD scholarship is facilitating this impactful research.
Through my multifaceted experiences in frontline emergency care, education, and research, I am committed to advancing the field of paramedicine and contributing to the well-being of communities across Queensland and beyond.
