Biography

Background

Geoff Portmann has spent over 30 year working in film and television. Starting as a film and sound editor he worked on a number of early Australian Feature Films including:

  • Stork
  • Alvin Purple
  • Peterson
  • Between Wars

As the ABC’s Head of Comedy he was responsible for programs such as:

  • Frontline
  • The Games
  • BackBerner
  • The Micallef Program
  • Good News Week
  • Club Buggery

As a Producer and Director Geoff is best known for his work on “Mother and Son”, which remains one of the most successful Australian sitcoms ever made. Geoff has Produced and Directed over 130 episodes of situation comedy.
