Biography

Wayne Murphy is a graduate James Cook and Murdoch Universities where he studied English literature, communication and cultural studies.

Early in his career he taught English, French and social science at various high schools in North Queensland before working as a curriculum writer and executive officer for Education Queensland.

His first academic posting was to the University of New England in Armidale. He has also taught at Bond University before moving to QUT in 2007, where he currently teaches courses in political and professional communication.

Wayne has presented and published papers on Australian popular culture and political communication, as well as short stories and verse.
