Jeanette McGown is a Lecturer specializing in film, video and digital editing and has been teaching at QUT since 1993. She is Study Area Coordinator in the Film Screen and Animation discipline. Jeanette is a member of the Creative Industries Board of Studies and has previously been a member of the Faculty Academic Board and Equity Committee, and in 1998 served for one year as Acting Discipline Head for FTV.
Prior to joining QUT, Jeanette completed courses in editing, cinematography, radio and television; worked for ABC Television in Brisbane as an assistant film editor and news editor; worked for many years as a freelance editor and continuity supervisor in the FTV industry; and she has edited on Avid systems since 1996. She produced, directed and edited two short dramas for a Masters degree at the Queensland College of Art. Jeanette has been a professional member of the Australian Screen Editors Guild and the Australian Film Institute.
From 1996 to 2001 she served on the WIFT (Women In Film and Television) QLD committee and as a training advisor. In 1996 and 1997 she was a member of Arts Training Qld FTV Committee representing WIFT and QUT, and on advisory panels for AFTRS and PFTC.
