Research theme: Health, Information, Security Research discipline: Networks and Communications
Research area:
My research addresses the vital need for the protection of healthcare information stored and processed in electronic health systems. My PhD dissertation proposed an information system architecture to facilitate the enforcement of privacy and security in such systems. It clearly identified three separate and achievable security goals. These were Health Informatics Application Security (HIAS), Health Informatics Access Control (HIAC), and Health Informatics Network Security (HINS). With growing concern for the privacy of personal information held in information systems and the growth of associated legislation in this regard worldwide, my associated research contribute to the development of safe, secure and resilient e-health information systems both in Australia and overseas. My current research interests are in the areas of:
- Privacy and security for e-health solutions
- System architecture for health information systems
- Health informatics network and application security
- Next Generation Networks
