Biography

Professor Paul Hyland is a Professor of Management in the Faculty of Business.  Prior to joining QUT he was a professorial research fellow at the University of Queensland and has also worked at Central Queensland University, the University of Western Sydney and the University of Wollongong.

His research focuses predominantly on innovation management and business development.  He has also worked on research projects and consultancies for industry partners to assist with regional development and business improvement issues.

Paul is involved in multiple research projects in areas including:

Asset management

  • Strategic management of assets with Dr Glen Murphy
  • Data management in asset intensive organisations with Dr Glenn Murphy

  • Human resource management in innovative firms with Dr Karen Becker and Assoc Prof Frances Jorgensen Aarhus Business School Denmark.

Student supervision

  • The principle of subsidiarity in project based organisations with Michael Connell and Dr Glen Murphy
  • Financial decision making with Anthony Vassallo and Dr Adelle Bish
  • Innovation adoption in beef supply chains with Hayley Moreland and Assoc Prof Don Cameron (UQ)
  • Dynamic capabilities and innovation capabilities in beef supply chains with Maree Storer and Prof Andrew Griffiths (UQ).
