Biography

Vincent completed his undergraduate degree in International Trade at Foreign Trade University (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) and Masters of Business Economics at University of Queensland (UQ). He was awarded a PhD degree in Applied Economics from UQ. Before moving into academia, he spent four years in consulting firms and worked with many multinational corporations in Vietnam. Vincent is interested in the following areas of research:

  • compassion and altruism
  • efficiency and productivity analysis
  • agricultural, natural resource, environmental economics and ecological economics
  • energy economics
  • sustainable business and development

Vincent is currently working in the following projects:

  1. Economics of compassion and altruism
  2. Economic, environmental and ecological total factor productivity growth in agricultural production
  3. Measuring nutrient efficiency in Korean rice farming businesses with Bayreuth Center for Ecology and Environmental Research (BayCEER), University of Bayreuth, Germany
  4. The sustainability of resource productivity growth
  5. Environmental efficiency of rice production in Asian countries
  6. New uses of directional distance functions in environmental and ecological economic

Experience

Vincent has been a reviewer for a number of journals including European Review of Agricultural Economics, Ecological Economics, Ecological Modelling, Food Policy Journal, Journal of Environmental Management.

Vincent won several grants from QUT with the total value of more than AUD 30,000. He has been working in a number of research projects within these grants. He also acts as chief investigator in two grants funded by Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Japan’s Nomura Foundation. Vincent is current supervising HDR students in Health Economics, Agricultural Economics and International Economics.

Before moving into academia, Vincent had spent five years working in economic, business and public relations consulting industry in Vietnam at the positions of Account Supervisors, Account Director and Business Development Director. At these roles, he had worked with many mutlinational corporations including Unilever, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, P&G, ADB, Intel, Coca Cola, Mercedes Benze, etc. In 2006, Vincent set up a public relations firm in Ho Chi Minh City. This firm is now one of top PR agencies in this city.
