Biography

Susan Hetherington is a journalism lecturer in the Creative Industries Faculty at QUT.

She is a veteran newspaper journalist having worked in Australia and in London before moving into the academia more than a decade ago. She continues to have strong industry links working with Australian Provincial Newspapers as a mentor to talented young staff and for the past eight years has been a weekly contributor to ABC Radio Brisbane.

Her Research Masters ‘Little Brother is Watching You: Preschool children, television news and responsibility in Australia’ in 2004 laid the groundwork for an ongoing research interest into children and the media in Australia and more recently, her research interests have diversified to include the use of information communication technologies in teaching and the best practice for teaching online journalism in Australia.
