Caroline Heim is an Associate Lecturer in Performance Studies in the Creative Industries Faculty at QUT. She coordinates units in twentieth century performance, Australian theatrical history and teaches performing skills and directing.
Caroline’s PhD (University of Queensland) explored and trialled a new model for post-performance discussions. Her primary area of research is theatre audiences and her post PhD research explores the actor-audience relationship. Caroline has published in various journals and her PhD research has just been released as a book.
Before entering academia, Caroline graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York with a Drama League Award. She worked as a performer on the New York and major US capital city stages in lead roles for seven years.
Much of Caroline’s research is informed by her theatre company productions. Crossbow Productions produces contemporised biographical plays in New York, Sydney and Brisbane. Post-performance discussions and collaborations with composers and visual artists are hallmarks of Crossbow productions.
