Biography

Dr Elizabeth Curtis’ background is in secondary History, English and Studies of Religion teaching in the private sector. Elizabeth has been involved with sessional teaching at QUT in the Faculty of Education since 2007 and was appointed as a lecturer in the School of Cultural and Professional Learning in January 2013. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students with a particular focus on classroom teaching practices. Elizabeth has recently completed her PhD which was a qualitative research study into the role of explicit values education and its impact upon quality teaching in pre-service teacher education. Her research interests include:

  • the role of the affective in teaching and learning
  • pre-service teacher education and preparing quality teachers
  • values education
  • Philosophy in the Classroom

Teaching

Dr Curtis has a particular focus and interest on classroom teaching practices right through from the Early Years to Senior Secondary. She lectures in field experience units, units with a focus on classroom teaching practices and is also very interested in History teaching. Elizabeth’s current units include:
