Biography

Clare Dyson is a researcher, lecturer and a professional artist. She has created over 15 major creative dance works that have been toured throughout Australia and internationally for both site specific environments and traditional mainstream theatres. Clare has received numerous prestigious fellowships, grants, residencies and awards including an Australian Dance Award, Ann and Rodney Pearlman Fellowship, the Australia Council Cité Internationale des Arts Residency in Paris and an US National Dance Project grant in partnership with Diverseworks in Houston. Her research focuses on audience engagement and how shifts in traditional presentation paradigms affect how audiences engage with live performance. Clare has worked as an artist-in-resident and theorist in both universities and art spaces throughout the world including at Degrassi in the US, Tansfabrik in Berlin and for four years at the Judith Wright Centre in Brisbane. Clare is currently working at QUT as a lecturer linking students to real-world opportunities in the creative industries via creative projects, internships and immersive international tours. She is researching audience engagement in live performance, choreoturgy in dance and how reflective practice supports final year creative arts students in internships, projects and study tours.
