Biography

Dr Kameron Dunn is employed in the Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities (CTCB) at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).  He has worked within an R&D and consulting environment for over eighteen years and is an inaugural Advanced Queensland Research Fellow.

In partnership with Nilwaste Energy, Queensland Urban Utilities, Southern Oil Refinery and QUT, Dr Kameron Dunn is exploring the ability of the thermochemical technologies called hydrothermal liquefaction and pyrolysis to minimise, transform and recover value adding products from agricultural waste (bagasse, lignin, vinasse), petrochemical waste (asphalt residue, end-of-life plastics, tyres) and sewage feedstocks.

Dr Kameron Dunn’s main areas of involvement as a consultant are technical audits of sugar factories, energy efficiency optimisation, design of process equipment and process modelling.

  • Plant design:– process piping (valving, pipe and pump sizing), flash tanks, S&T heaters, DC heaters, condensers, evaporators, re–heaters, stirrers, crystallisers and plant design using computation fluid dynamics (CFX).
  • Factory energy audits.
  • Supercritical processes.
  • Pilot operation– flotation clarification, membranes, evaporators, belt press filters and wet scrubbers, hydrothermal liquefaction, supercritical CO2 fractionation and extraction.
