Teaching

Dr Jason Chia has been involved in higher education teaching since 2014 and is currently a lecturer in property economics. During this period, Jason receives high student’s perspective feedback on his teaching (an average score of 4.6 out of 5.0). Jason's teaching philosophy is one that embraces respect, integrity and excellence. Jason creates a supportive learning environment for learners to attain knowledge. He is a firm believer of collaborative learning when students learn from one another through group discussion and forum in class. When social participation happens, students will be more interested in learning. Jason acknowledges students’ engagement will lead to successes and retainment. As a teacher, Jason is committed to creating a healthy learning environment to cultivate deep learning. Learners should not just attain knowledge, rather they should develop their personal attitudes and professional practices which reflect their own values.

Jason’s professional background is cross-disciplinary, in Urban Planning (Quantity Surveying and Property Economics) and Transport Planning and Engineering, which informs his teaching practices. Jason teaches in the following units:
