Biography
Background
Prior to joining the QUT Faculty of Law on a full-time basis, Tracey practised as a solicitor in commercial and real property law at the Brisbane office of Allens Arthur Robinson, Lawyers.
In 2000, Tracey was awarded a British Chevening – Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship and in 2001 completed a Master of Laws Degree at the University of Cambridge (Wolfson College), England. She is a graduate of the B Business (Accountancy) / B Laws combined degree course at QUT, where she received first class honors and a University Medal for her law studies.

Researching mainly in the area of Torts Law, Tracey has published and presented conference papers on the law of negligence, including the formulation of duties of care, causation, damages assessment, civil liability legislation, wrongful death, and vulnerability. However her research interests also include the areas of health law and legal education, with particular emphasis upon teaching pedagogy and Generation Y students. She is a member of the Health Law and SHELLJ (Scholarship of Higher Education Learning in Law and Justice) Research Programs.
Her publications (which have been citied by leading academics, professionals and policy makers) include:
- Over 21 refereed C1/E1 and/or ERA ranked scholarly journal articles and papers
- Co-authorship of Equity and Trusts: Butterworths Questions and Answers (3rd ed, 2009)
- Over 26 other scholarly articles and publications
Tracey sits as a specialist academic on the editorial board of Precedent - the professional journal of the Australian Lawyers Alliance. She is a former editor of the QUT Law and Justice Journal and is a current member of the University’s Academic Board and Peer Programs Steering Committees. She is also a member of the Law Faculty’s Teaching and Learning Committee and Law Academic Board.
Tracey coordinates the Faculty of Law’s Torts Student Peer Mentor Program and holds a PASS/SI Supervisor Accreditation (University of Missouri Kansas City, University of Wollongong).
