Biography

Having trained and worked as an architect, then held academic posts in architecture and business, I have developed research and teaching through trans-disciplinary thinking. I have published articles that link study of the physical and social environments of the workplace in top social science (Human Relations) and built environment (Building Research & Information) journals. For over twenty years, I have developed the field of scenario methods, co-authoring two books, with the second edition of Scenario Thinking: Preparing your organization for the future in an unpredictable world (Palgrave Macmillan) to be published in late 2017. In 2013, I co-edited a special issue of Technological Forecasting & Social Change on scenario methods and theory. I have co-authored multiple journal articles on scenarios, and undertaken research, teaching and consultancy across the UK, Europe, South-East Asia and Australia.

In the field of international business (IB), I co-founded and have co-edited the journal Critical Perspectives on International Business which gained ranking in numerous countries across the world within 10 years. I co-authored A Very Short, Fairly Interesting and Reasonably Cheap Book about International Business (SAGE) which was awarded an ‘Outstanding Academic Title’ award in 2010 and was revised and updated for a second edition in 2017.

I have held academic posts at Strathclyde, Durham and Essex Universities in the UK. I was Head of School of Management at Essex and at RMIT University, Melbourne before moving to a part-time post at QUT Business School in 2015.
