Ross Brown is a Senior Lecturer with the Science and Technology Faculty, where he is a member of the QUT Business Process Management (BPM) Research Group. He also teaches computer graphics and final year project units in the Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment.
His main research interests are in the application of 3D games technology to other research domains. In particular, his latest research involves the development of virtual world technology for the representation of BPM information. A number of projects are currently underway, including: the embedding of executable workflows in virtual environments, collaborative 3D process modelling, 3D spatial visualisation of process models and the development of game-like consumer interfaces for personal processes.
This research is being financially supported by the Smart Services Collaborative Research Centre in Australia.
Ross has strong links with many Australian and international game and game technology companies, such as Sony and THQ, amongst others. Ross also has an ongoing teaching and research relationship with Microsoft Research Asia, having received funding from them in the areas of game technology research and curriculum development. He presents talks at Microsoft Tech Ed.
He has been interviewed for ABC Brisbane radio, The Financial Review, The Australian IT Section, The Age and The Brisbane Courier Mail, and is often consulted by government bodies on issues surrounding the game industry, and the applications of such technology to broader domains.
