Biography

Dr Alex Black is a Lecturer in the School of Optometry & Vision Science at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia.  He received his PhD in Vision Science (QUT) in 2010, and completed a Masters of Public Health (University of Queensland) in 2012. Dr Black is engaged in the clinical training of optometry students. Dr Black is an optometrist and injury epidemiologist whose research focuses on the impact of vision impairment on everyday activities, such as walking and driving, especially older adults with age-related ocular conditions. engaged in the clinical training of optometry students.   Current active research interests include gaze behaviour when driving, night-time driving difficulties and pedestrian visibility. He is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the American Academy of Optometry.
