A highly motivated and experienced Architecture lecturer with experience in quantitative research methods, as well as teaching experience in qualitative data analysis. Mehdi is currently completing a PhD program at QUT. A key area of his research is improving lighting design in office buildings to enhance users’ satisfaction, as well as reducing energy bills. His research interest areas fall into:

  • Enhancing indoor lighting design of buildings
  • Reducing energy consumption of buildings

Beyond his teaching experience and research successes, Mehdi has been fortunate to obtain a wide range of industry experience. It includes more than ten years of practice experience as a principal architect (designer and/ or drafter) as well as an architectural supervisor in different construction projects. During his professional experience, he has been engaged in abundant successful residential, educational, commercial and landscape projects. Designing diverse building types, through concept and schematic design to reach more advanced and detailed stages, has been one of his duties in most of the projects with which he has been engaged. Documentation, presentation, as well as developing and delivering progress reports lie amongst the many other tasks he has completed to date.

With more than ten years of professional experience and cross-disciplinary knowledge in design and construction sector as an Architect, Architectural Draftsperson, and Architectural Supervisor, Mehdi has always maintained an active role in the industry while teaching and/ or undertaking research. Some of Mehdi’s design achievements are as follow:

  • Design and/ or drafting several residential and commercial projects in Australia
  • Design the building and interior decoration of the central Library of Islamic Azad University-Ahvaz Branch, which covers 7000 m
  • Design the building and interior decoration of the Engineering Building of Islamic Azad University-Ahvaz Branch, which covers 9500 m²
  • Reviewing and redesigning the main campus of Islamic Azad University-Ahvaz, which covers 7 Hectares for beautification, besides solving current problems
  • Design the landscape of new police headquarters of Khuzestan Province, covering an area of 50 Hectares
  • Design a residential complex with 100 units, which covers 13000 square meters of floor space for the staff cooperative of Islamic Azad University of Masjed Soleiman
  • Design the amphitheatre and conference centre of the Islamic Azad University-Izeh, which covers 1800 m²
  • Interior design of the hotel of professors and guests which covers 5200 m² in 3 floors with over 60 rooms and restaurant and conference rooms
  • Design the campus of  Islamic Azad University-Masjed Soleiman, which covers 22 Hectares
